Operations Overview
Introduction
Section titled “Introduction”This chapter explains how to keep the completed PC healthy after the build guide is finished.
Purpose
Section titled “Purpose”Turn maintenance, monitoring, updates, backups, security, troubleshooting, and upgrades into repeatable routines.
Estimated Time
Section titled “Estimated Time”20-30 minutes to review; recurring tasks depend on the maintenance interval.
Difficulty
Section titled “Difficulty”Beginner.
Required Tools
Section titled “Required Tools”- Windows administrator account.
- Hardware monitoring software.
- Driver and firmware version notes.
- Backup target or cloud backup account.
- Maintenance log.
Warnings
Section titled “Warnings”- Do not update BIOS, GPU drivers, chipset drivers, fan-control software, and Windows feature versions all at the same time.
- Do not install generic driver updater, registry cleaner, or game booster utilities.
- Do not publish private logs containing serial numbers, licence keys, account names, recovery keys, or invoices.
- Do not use benchmark scores from other systems as pass/fail results for this build.
Operations Model

| Health | Establish a baseline, then compare future readings under similar room and workload conditions. |
| Maintenance | Clean and inspect the case on a schedule, with extra checks after dust, moves, hardware changes, or new fan noise. |
| Monitoring | Watch trends, not isolated single readings. Record abnormal values with workload and room context. |
| Software lifecycle | Keep essential tools installed; keep stress-test and cleanup tools available only when useful. |
| Windows optimisation | Change Windows settings conservatively after drivers are stable; avoid debloat scripts and service-disabling guides. |
| Firmware lifecycle | Update BIOS and SSD firmware for documented fixes, stability, compatibility, or security reasons. |
| Storage layout | Use one main C: volume on the single Samsung 990 PRO unless a future second physical drive changes the storage plan. |
| Backup strategy | Maintain restore points, file backups, recovery media, and BitLocker recovery-key access before problems occur. |
| Drive encryption | Treat BitLocker as optional protection for theft risk, not as a backup. Enable it only after recovery-key storage is verified. |
| Troubleshooting | Record the last change and isolate one variable at a time. |
| Upgrade strategy | Check compatibility, record the old baseline, change one component at a time, then revalidate. |
Step-by-Step Instructions
Section titled “Step-by-Step Instructions”- Complete the build guide through Gaming Optimisation.
- Record the first stable baseline in Benchmark Baseline.
- Install only the essential software listed in Recommended Software.
- Configure monitoring and alert habits using Monitoring.
- Configure fan behaviour only after default thermal behaviour is understood.
- Create a restore point and confirm backup coverage before optional software or major drivers.
- Apply Windows 11 Pro Optimisation after drivers are stable.
- Confirm the SSD Storage Plan before installing large game libraries or capture tools.
- Decide whether to enable BitLocker Drive Encryption after Windows and drivers are stable.
- Follow the Maintenance Schedule after the first week of use.
- Use Driver Strategy before changing chipset, GPU, BIOS, SSD firmware, or Windows feature state.
- Use Troubleshooting when symptoms appear.
- Use Upgrade Planning before buying replacement hardware.
Verification Checklist
Section titled “Verification Checklist”- Baseline readings are recorded.
- Essential software sources are known.
- Windows optimisation settings are reviewed after drivers are stable.
- Restore-point and backup approach is known.
- SSD storage layout and free-space target are known.
- BitLocker decision and recovery-key storage approach are known.

Common Mistakes
Section titled “Common Mistakes”- Treating maintenance as only dust cleaning.
- Updating multiple low-level components before testing.
- Keeping every benchmark and diagnostic tool permanently installed.
- Ignoring backup and BitLocker recovery-key access until recovery is needed.
- Replacing hardware before checking drivers, cables, temperatures, or recent changes.
Expected Result
