Memory Installation

This chapter installs the 32GB DDR5 memory kit in the correct dual-channel slots on the Gigabyte B850 AORUS Elite WiFi7 motherboard.

Install the matched DDR5 kit in the correct slots so the system can boot reliably and later run the EXPO profile.

10-15 minutes.

Beginner.

  • Anti-static wrist strap.
  • Motherboard manual.
  • DDR5 memory kit.
  • Good lighting.
  • Do not install DDR4 memory. The motherboard supports DDR5 only.
  • Do not mix separate memory kits.
  • Do not touch the gold contacts on the memory modules.
  • Do not enable EXPO before the first stable boot is confirmed.
  • Do not force a module if the notch is not aligned.
  1. Confirm the kit is the locked 2 x 16GB DDR5-6000 CL30 kit from the bill of materials. The G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB F5-6000J3038F16GX2-TZ5NR kit is listed by G.SKILL for the Gigabyte B850 AORUS Elite WiFi7.
  2. Locate the four DIMM slots beside the CPU socket.
  3. For two modules, use the motherboard-recommended paired slots: A2 and B2.
  4. Open the retaining latches for those slots.
  5. Hold the first memory module by its edges.
  6. Align the DDR5 notch with the slot key.
  7. Press straight down with even pressure until the latch clicks into place.
  8. Repeat the process for the second module.
  9. Visually confirm both modules are fully seated and level.
  • Modules are installed in A2 and B2.
  • Both latches are fully locked.
  • Both modules are level and fully seated.
  • The memory kit is the locked G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB F5-6000J3038F16GX2-TZ5NR kit.
  • No EXPO settings have been changed yet.
  • Installing the modules in A1 and B1 instead of A2 and B2.
  • Leaving one side slightly unseated.
  • Pressing at an angle.
  • Mixing two separately purchased kits.
  • Assuming EXPO is active before it is enabled in BIOS.

The DDR5 memory kit is installed in the correct dual-channel slots and ready for first boot at default safe settings.
