Motherboard Installation
Introduction
Section titled “Introduction”This chapter installs the prepared Gigabyte B850 AORUS Elite WiFi7 motherboard into the Lian Li O11 Dynamic Mini V2 Flow.
Purpose
Section titled “Purpose”Secure the motherboard in the case without flexing the PCB, trapping cables, or leaving incorrect standoff contact points.
Estimated Time
Section titled “Estimated Time”20-35 minutes.
Difficulty
Section titled “Difficulty”Moderate.
Required Tools
Section titled “Required Tools”- Phillips #2 screwdriver.
- Case motherboard screws.
- Flashlight.
- Anti-static wrist strap.
Warnings
Section titled “Warnings”- Do not drag the underside of the motherboard across standoffs.
- Do not overtighten motherboard screws.
- Do not trap front-panel, USB, fan, or PSU cables under the board.
- Do not install the GPU before the motherboard screws are checked.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Section titled “Step-by-Step Instructions”- Confirm CPU, RAM, and SSD are already installed on the motherboard.
- Confirm the case has the correct ATX standoff layout.
- Check that the integrated rear I/O shield area is clear.
- Hold the motherboard by its edges.
- Lower the board into the case, aligning the rear I/O with the case opening.
- Align the screw holes over the standoffs.
- Start the centre screw first if the case has a locating standoff; otherwise start a corner screw lightly.
- Install all required motherboard screws loosely.
- Tighten screws in stages until snug.
- Connect the 24-pin ATX motherboard power cable.
- Connect CPU EPS power at the top-left of the motherboard.
- Leave front-panel, USB, audio, fan, pump, and RGB connections for the dedicated connector chapters.
Verification Checklist
Section titled “Verification Checklist”- Rear I/O is aligned correctly.
- Every installed screw enters a standoff.
- No screw is cross-threaded.
- No unused standoff touches the underside of the board.
- 24-pin ATX power is fully seated.
- CPU EPS power is fully seated.
- Motherboard is level and secure.
Common Mistakes
Section titled “Common Mistakes”- Forgetting the CPU EPS connector until access is blocked.
- Overtightening screws and stressing the PCB.
- Leaving the rear I/O misaligned.
- Dropping screws onto the motherboard.
- Using PSU screws instead of motherboard screws.
Expected Result
Section titled “Expected Result”The motherboard is mounted securely in the case with main board power connected.
